about

Starting a new project is like an author being faced with a blank piece of paper, the challenge being to create something fresh and interesting to both us as musicians and to the potential listener; so for this album we set ourselves the challenge of only using free VST Synthesisers rather than our usual go-to synths.

Rather than being restrictive and challenging, we found it freed us up to be more creative, and the album came together in little over five weeks.

The result is Memory Lanes, a melodic Downtempo collection, and whilst we can never leave The Berlin School behind for long it is strongly redolent of the music we loved in the 1990s. Pitched just this side of ambient it's sparked by Trip Hop beats and a smattering of groovy samples, with the occasional surprise to shake up the listener.

We like it, we hope you do too!
