about

Alan Bruzon and Simon Meader have been friends for 30 years with each forging their own individual musical paths that sometimes would touch and cross over that time frame.

These occasional collaborations blossomed in late 2015 when they began to work more closely together on the project that became Network 23, cementing their desire to create music that reflected their joint love of synthesisers, ambient music and Berlin School electronica.

Over the course of 5 years and over 50 albums released on Bandcamp, Network 23 have continued to create music that reflects these initial aims, but have also branched out into Space Rock, Disco, Trance and Acoustic genres. The duo has collaborated with other musicians including Sarana and Arjan Schat, performed live on a number of occasions and met the recent challenges of the 2020 COVID restrictions with new and innovative methods of working that has enabled them to remain creative during these unusual times.

Network 23 appreciate that to the newcomer, their sizeable catalogue may appear daunting, and to celebrate 5 years since Alan and Simon first started to work together they have hand picked a selection of their favourite tracks for this compilation ‘A Young Person’s Guide To Network 23’ (named with a nod to the definitive early collection by one of their favourite bands, King Crimson)

Trying to keep to a reasonable length (The collection is just over 2 hrs long) was tricky, and precluded some of their longer tracks but they have reached a happy balance in producing a compilation that broadly reflects their output for the newcomer but also provides a handy one-stop-shop for the more seasoned listener. As a bonus, the previously unavailable track ‘Stockholm’ has been added to the collection.”
