about

Alan: Werner Herzog’s 1979 film “Nosferatu the Vampyre” begins with this track, originally performed by Popol Vuh. It accompanies the horrific images of mummies, faces frozen in contorted agony, what seems like a constant scream in silence. This is our version of that tune, using a mellotron plugin to recreate the stark choral voices of the original

Simon: Network 23 rarely do cover versions, but when proposing a concept based on the chilling Nosferatu The Vampyre story it seemed that for an opening track Popul Vuh’s “Brüder des Schattens” could not be beaten and our reworking was perfect in setting the scene and atmosphere for our album.
